Please chance me for Colgate ED2; very low SAT scores

Hi! My December SAT scores just came in : CR-670, Math-710, Writing-570.
My original plan was to apply to Colgate RD, since i was hoping a score of more than 2100. However, now I am not sure if I should even apply, but am ready to take my chances with ED2. Can you guys please let me know if this is such a good idea, based on my stats below:

9th standard - 9.9/10
10th standard -9.6/10
11th standard - 8.75/10
12th standard, midsems - 10/10

SAT II - Chem,Math2- 800,800

Glowing LOR's and essays.

Football at district level;
Multiple elocution and debate competitions at school and district levels;
Started environment clubs at both my schools (I changed schools after the 10th grade to prepare for IIT-JEE examination);
Started an environmental organization out of school, and we've organized multiple street plays and awareness campaigns in the town;
Organized two blood donation camps in town;
Have been learning the keyboard for about 4 years now, but have only performed in local events;
Black belt in Judo;
Worked with a local environment organization for 3 years;
Completed certified courses in Ethical Hacking from a well known national training company;

I hope to major in CS, and my family contribution maxes out at 5k.

bump…bump…bump

Unfortunately, I think that your biggest problem comes from the financial thing. But, well, all I can say is :give it a try ^^!
Colgate doesn’t care much about your writing score, so dont worry about it :slight_smile: In fact, your profile is wayyy better than mine (my scores are terribly bad). But It doesn’t mean that I have to give up though my chances of getting in are unmitigatedly slim, lol.
Anyways, good luck :)

You are lucky. Your writing is bad but Colgate does not take that into account. Go for EDII if you truly have Colgate as your first choice.

Your total profile is strong enough for a good chance at Colgate. You would be a very strong candidate ED II at Lafayette where you more closely match the first year class.

Lafayette may be a tad stronger in sciences than Colgate and is located closer to major cities.

thanks @alanhouston! I was indeed planning on applying to Lafayette, but hadn’t thought about ED2. Will think about it.

alanhouston,

In the spirit of helping this Indian applicant navigate the respective colleges’ websites and other sources of information from afar, please explain your assertion about sciences possibly being a tad stronger at Lafayette. What programs, faculty, facilities etc do you have in mind when you make this point?

Good luck to the newdude with your college search?
