Please chance me for Columbia, UCLA, USC, and NYU!

Hello all,

I would be incredibly grateful if you could chance me for the following schools:
-Columbia University
-NYU
-UCLA
-USC

I realize that none of these are really safety schools for me, but don't worry; they're not the only schools I'm applying to!

Anyways, here's some brief information about me.

GPA: My high school doesn't calculate GPAs. However, I can say that I go to a VERY competitive, academically prestigious private high school, and I am in the top 5th in my grade.

SAT: 2230 (although I am retaking it in the fall and hope to improve!)

Extracurriculars: In my freshman year, I did classical piano and won many competitions. However, I realized I wasn't enjoying it and decided to switch to singing and playing popular music. I am very proud of this decision, and plan on writing about it in my app (following my passion, questioning what I was doing, etc.)

I have a music channel on Youtube and am fairly successful. I also perform at local coffee shops.

I am also the leader of my school's all-girls' a cappella group.

I volunteer as the assistant choir director and accompanist at an elementary school.

I am also a co-editor of my school's literary magazine.

In the past few summers, I have participated in a local jazz festival and a summer program at Barnard.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?!? Thank you so much; any feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

What is your field of interest? Are you intending to apply as a music major? If so, will you be a performance major?

Are you intending to apply to a popular music program or take music as a minor?

It would be very difficult to tell without your GPA, which your HS does not calculate. Your SAT was fantastic though. You could have better EC’s though.

Only regarding your SAT and EC, I could predict you can get into UCLA and USC. But it depends alot on your GPA, which I don’t know. Are there any grading system in your HS which gives a number? A’s, 95’s, 4 or such?

I’d say you’re in at NYU, UCLA and USC, and a reach at Columbia.

Your EC’s are good in my opinion; they’re concentrated in one area which shows a passion and dedication. Just find a way to really sell them as a cohesive whole, and explain your motives. A youtube channel can be an amazing and unique EC if you starts getting lots of views and awards.

What high school do you attend? Stuyvesant or Philips Exeter?

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for the quick responses. I have consistently gotten A’s in English throughout high school; the rest of my grades are A-'s and (unfortunately) a few B+'s. However, like I said, my high school is VERY tough. NO ONE in my grade has a 4.0.

And sorry, but I would prefer not saying which high school I attend! I will say that some of the richest men in the country graduated from it, though!

Thanks!

Phillips Andover?

When you say you’re in the top 5th, do you mean top 20%? Because that’s not that impressive… (It’d be better if it was top 5% and I’m just understanding it wrong…)

^ Well top 20% of one of the best high schools in the country could potentially be alright, it just depends.
