@cellist: how is he? LoL

honestly…your scores are not very…ivy league-not even the top 40 schools-just buy a Princeton review book and a barrons book and study for a month or two and take it twice more September and October. my gpa is definitely NOT where my act scores are-2.8 gpa uw with many many honors/ap(-.-) and a 33 ACT, not a good combo, as is with yours. Adcoms will say I’m lazy but smart enough to get a 2250 equivalent, but adcoms will definitely think there’s some grade inflation at your school. Again, retake your tests- aim for at least a 2000 sat or 29 act, it’ll get you somewhere in the top 20. If you don’t make, which I am not suggesting you won’t, you can transfer or work towards grad school! goodluck :D

*take the act twice more

HEy ivy much. can you help me

@gldenboy7: sureee

I was looking at your post, and i was so inspired, and motivated. How did you find out about all of thoose extra activites and get involved. Also im in the 10th grade and im trying to win big adwards. Do you know how i can do that.

Ya ivymuch u r truely an inspiration!!! I recommend applying EA to Harvard so u have a better chance if you realy want to go there, but you prolly won’t need it anyway because u have very solid stats.

^Girl, stop ■■■■■■■■.

JB

@JB: are u talking to me? i’m not “■■■■■■■■,” pls don’t be so presumptuous next time ok

Sorry, but your post looked like the epitome of a ■■■■■ post, smeared all over with sarcasm. For ex: “you have very solid stats”. My apologies if I misinterpreted that.

JB

Jb: I was NOT being sarcastic. Ok. PLEASE give me the benefit of the doubt here, plus maybe ivymuch’s testscores aren’t mind-blowing but his GPA is great and so are his ec’s

It’s all good. I was just being presumptuous. ;)

JB

you sure were!! ;)

Thank you all for your comments!!!

Your welcome!!

That has to be the most ignorant things I have ever read in my entire life and by far was not worth the time I spent reading it. You honestly believe every Harvard student admitted scored a stellar “30 plus” on the ACTs? with that logic, there wouldn’t be very many kids to fund that massive endowment. To be frank, this kid has a better chance than you ever would; and to assume this post was a joke proves that even more so.

Sir, I don’t quite understand what you’re saying. Could you explain every sentence of your post?

JB

How does he have a better chance? Lol

IRGovmnt: Since your reply is so hyperbolic, can you explain clearer what you are stating? Are you saying that there are many sub-30ACT admits to Harvard these days? Is the purpose of your statement somehow a swipe at Development Admits – who receive special consideration to admissions?

Surely you aren’t saying that the avg applicant with about a 30 ACT has a solid chance of a Harvard admit, are you?

Plz clarify your grandiose statement.

BTW – two other points: The original poster has no idea whatsoever what it is to get into a school like Harvard. He will have a difficult time getting into Michigan State as it’s become very competitive even for in state residents. If he applies to UMich, he’ll likely be rejected. He needs to wake up and apply to some realistic schools or be a laughing stock come April 2012.

Finally: I fully believe liv4physicz is a regular ■■■■■. She has zero credibility in my opinion to assert that the OP has “great stats”.

One score isn’t going to make or break an applicant. Harvard isn’t going to defer a rather outstanding student simply because he/she doesn’t test well. Plus, they should know that a test does not calculate one’s ability to learn. And you’re right, not everyone above or below a 30 will get into Harvard. I just think the ACT holds less water than people believe.
