Hello I am a Korean American who is trying to transfer to Midd for next fall. I am a freshman. I had a B average at a prestigious all boy private high school located in MA
I am attending a small top 100 college in Worcester, MA and have a 3.6/3.7 GPA.
I am getting recommendations from 3 professors, Economics, English and Political Science. I am also the president of the largest dorm complex on the school and the first freshman to be elected as the chairman of the finance committee in my school. I volunteer at a retirement home and I have a job as a sanitation engineer at my school. I love Middlebury so much and I feel as though I and the school have so much to offer. I am sending 3 SAT subject tests all over 700 except one which is in the high 600's. I am also getting a recommendation from a Middlebury alumni who happened to be my favorite teacher in high school. The only fall I have is that in the fall of my senior year in high school I got suspended for plagiarism. I hope colleges look past that now. I hope you guys can contribute to how to make a stronger application

It’s impossible to figure out Midd transfers because the numbers are so low and sporadic. Take a look at the data:

[Common Data Set | Middlebury](<a href=“Assessment and Institutional Research | Middlebury”>Assessment and Institutional Research | Middlebury)

Out of the 7 years shown, 4 years had: 0, 0, 1 & 7 transfers accepted.

I was recently admitted to Midd for next Spring–I’m reverberating still from the shock of finding out a few days ago. While it may be helpful to know, don’t let the data discourage you. I have similar stats as you–I had a B average at a prestigious high school, a 3.9 at Fordham. Though my SAT scores were abysmal–no where near the average of accepted Middkids. But I think what got me in was my passion, and this I conveyed with all my might in my application. What I think Midd really looks for is a student with not only potential, but the will to go above and beyond.

You have good stats, but try not to go overload on the teacher recommendations (Midd requires 1) unless you know they will put you over the top. I think your only real hurdle is the plagiarism, and that’s a HUGE one. I would recommend that you write to Midd explaining what happened exactly and how you’ve changed since the incident. Otherwise, they’ll see that on your application as a big blaring red flag, and write you off immediately. If you have an explanation, at the very least, you have a better shot in convincing them.
