Also whle I’m praying they don’t take this into consideration to much their was a pretty big typo on my essay (which somehow evaded me and my parents eyes after 100 of times re-reading, I think I copied and pasted the wrong document or something) the typo reads like this:

“For example, it taught me that just because at first you do not get something it does not mean you should not try again because perseverance and determination pays off… Af After I was rejected, I sulked for a bit but I soon got back up on the horse. For several months, I doubled my hours of preparation and even tried out different methods to help ease my nerves. When interviews came around I was more ready and confident than ever, and in the end, I got the job and was rewarded with the huge payoffs I previously mentioned.ter I was denied I sulked for a bit but I soon got back up on the horse and started looking and preparing for new internships. After several months of researching and doubling my hours of preparation, as well as trying out different methods to ease my nerves, I found a new internship. When interviews came around I was more ready and confident than ever and in the end I got the job and was rewarded with the huge payoffs I previously mentioned.stated above”.

So basically I copied the correct version into the wrong version and didn’t delete the wrong version if that explanationmakes sense

Please and Thank You for your time and Good Luck to all of the Class of 15

Ohio state has an excellent business department. So obviously they would want to have highly qualified students entering the school. Your whole profile other than your SAT seems to be ok, I would recommend you to raise your sat scores because they are much lower than OSU’s average, which is 1860.
However you have a distinct advantage of early action. So I wouldn’t be much surprised if you get in. But to be honest, take up some safety schools too :)

Thanks I got a lot of safety and match schools lined up 1 question though Do you think the admission office will read into the typo a lot? Or will it not have to much of a negative effect?

If you are talking about your college essay then yes it could probably have a negative effect on your chances. because essay is something which tends to show your stability of thought process and they do not expect an applicant to screw it with typo!

You have a great profile other than your sat so I would recommend you to take the sat again this december and try to raise your score. It would be really helpful for your admission chances :)

Thank you

I’m not going to candy-coat it. I would say if you sent the above letter that it would have a severe negative impact on your admission chances. These aren’t the type of errors that are forgiven in today’s brutal admission process. Admissions at any school has the tough job of forming an opinion of each applicant based on a small amount of info. It’s their job to notice such errors and it definitely becomes part of their “profile” of you, the applicant. I’d say don’t get too down though–re-check your stuff and keep on sending out applications!

Do you believe I should try to email/call the admissions office and ask to change my essay that one screw up is the only bad thing on it (i had 5+ ppl review it beforehand) and I would really like to attend Osu?

Unless someone else here thinks it is a bad idea, I think you should call admissions to see if they will allow you to send a corrected copy. You have nothing to lose.

thanks and ill try to call

My stats are pretty similar, did you get in? I haven’t been notified with an admissions decision yet and I’m really nervous!

Nothing yet Good Luck to you though

Were you able to get it???

No I got denied unfortunally

do you think it was because of your essay?

because i have the same stats 3.4 GPA UW but 32 ACT with no SAT and i will apply early. i hope not get denied if you did
