PLEASE CHANCE ME GUYS THANK YOU! :)
ANY ADVICE FOR SAT's AND SAT II's is SOOOOO APPRECIATED and any additional advice as well. Thank you again! :)

you have very good e.c’s, and you have the URM going for you.

unfortunately, your rank, your SAT’s, SAT II’s, ACT are alll very very low. You should raise your SAT I at least to 2100, SAT II’s, 700+, ACT 32+. with those, you will have a good chance at these schools.

also, you should apply to some safety schools, just in case. the college admissions process is very random, and with some bad luck, you might not get into any of the schools you want. just a safe tip.

Thankyou soo much stridegumisbest. I’m trying my best. SATII’s and SAT I, and my gpa/rank are all the most important. SATII’s I’m def. having trouble with. I just don’t know how to study for those. No matter what my grade is not increasing. Any advice for a 700+ ??? Thank you again. :)

You said you’re taking the Math 2 test, but if you’re not happy with those scores, maybe try the Math Level 1? That’s what I did, and it turned out well. I also took the Chemistry exam and found I was able to do well on that. I personally wouldn’t go near the US History exam haha. I would recommend Princeton Review for both the Math and Chemistry exams.

For the SAT, you only took it once. You definitely have time to retake as many times as you need to get the score that you want. Before retaking, focus on how you’re going to change your strategy. I took the SAT a few times myself, so here’s my advice. For critical reading, first read the passages and take your time to make sure you understand the general idea and THEN go to the questions. For vocab, study Direct Hits Core Vocabulary of the SAT Volumes 1 and 2. I studied those and knew most of the vocabulary that showed up. I actually had quite some trouble with math… but buy a prep book, learn all the formulas and concepts you need, and then all I can advise is to really not think too hard. The questions are easier than they seem. Let me know if you need essay advice for the writing section.

Besides scores, focus on what the “hook” or main gist of your application will be. What will you focus on in your application that will really catch the adcoms eye and make them remember you? How will you stand out? You can choose a unique passion or activity to do this, or even a unique experience. best of luck!!

I second what someone said earlier about your ECs; they’re certainly very strong. But to be perfectly honest, your rank and test scores are going to hurt you in the admissions process. It may be too late to work on raising your class rank, but definitely put tons of energy into your SAT retakes.

Out of all your listed schools, I’d say your best shot is at the University of Miami, followed by UCLA. Maybe you should look at a few more schools so that you have a good group of safeties to fall back on? I noticed that your entire college list is composed of moderate to extreme reaches.

Sudaflower, I don’t mean to discriminate by any means, but if you look at the statistics, being an African American or Native American with high grades and decent SATs significantly increases your chances of getting into the top universities compared someone who is white, even though we are supposedly past affirmative action. I wouldn’t worry to much if I was you, except you need to raise your Sats to at least a 2100

get a 2100 and you should get in due to AA, higher grades would be preferable tho

the SAT’s and GPA are more like a preliminary filter from what I understand. If those are high ENOUGH, then your extracurriculars will help you. If not (and from what I understand, it’s about 3.8+ unweighted and 2100+ SAT I to pass the preliminary filter) then they won’t really care about your ECs. Looks like you do better on SAT so I’d recommend forgetting the ACT and focusing on those. Also, if you attend a really good school they’ll understand if your rank is not very high.

Regarding ECs, do you play an instrument? If so, send in a CD. Do you dance or perform in some other way? If so, make a DVD. Princeton actually will watch them - some of them (music and dance) will get reviewed by the respective departments so they really care about those things. Even if you don’t do much, if for instance you have a great voice, make a video of yourself singing/performing a musical theater song. Something that makes you stand out in a way other than on paper.

As for chancing? All those schools are just as much a reach for you as anyone else who applies. If you can get your SAT up a lot, then they’re not much more of a reach for you, and you’ll be among the qualified applicants - about 20% of whom get in.
