Hi. I am currently a freshman at Vanderbilt University. I am in the college of arts and sciences here but I am taking engineering classes because I was planning on transfering to the engineering school. However, because of recent health problems I may need to transfer to a university closer to my home in chicago. I was wondering about my chances of Univeristy of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (UIUC). I would want to apply for their engineering school. On their site it says the guidelines are around a 3.0 gpa. I would want to major in biomedical/computer engineering. My grades at Vanderbilt so far are fairly good. I have A's in all my classes except calculus. Because of my health problems i fell behind in calculus I (extremely hard class) and am going to have to withdraw from the course. Will this affect my chances of getting accepted? If I withdraw from the course I would take it again next semester, but UIUC says sophmore transfers should have completed Calculus II, which I would then need to take over summer or hope they accept me anyway. If withdraw from calculus, my first semester gpa would be around a 3.7 But if i stay in and try to get a C, my gpa would be around a 3.1 or so, but then I would have completed the course and got the credits....Any adivce? Chances? Also, if I apply to transfer, does UIUC get to see my second semester grades? BTW, i have to decide to withdraw by friday so please help quick! thanks in advance!

bump…please. i will chance back.

I don’t know much about transfers, but I’m sure if you explain why you dropped the class or got a C then they’ll consider it into your overall application.
