Please chance me for UCs and Barnard, NYU, Fordham! :)

Please chance me for UCB, UCLA, USC, UCD, UCI, Barnard (!), Fordham, UCSD, NYU

So the way I figure it, this is how it is:

Matches: UC Irvine, UC Davis

Low Reaches: Barnard (dream), Fordham, UCSD

Mid Reaches: NYU

High Reaches: UCB (mommy's dream), UCLA, USC

God level: Columbia (I'm not even applying, I just wanted to include this. Former dream school before I met Barnard!)

Here are the stats. They're pretty weak, so I'm working on improving them.

STATS
GPA: 3.78 UW / 4.09 W (I can't really improve here. . . I slacked off a lot in tenth grade)
Rank: School does not rank
SAT I: 2050 (590 MA / 720 CR / 740 WR) I admit that I did not study as much as I should have for my first time, so I deserve that score. I took it a second time, after studying, and am going to get my results in a few days.
SAT II: US History, Literature, Math II (taking in June)
ACT: will take, diagnostic last year reported potential score of 34 (hopefully I will score about this much)
Other Stats: Will be participating in a selective program senior year where I take all my classes at a local college to earn a maximum of 48 units.
APs taken: AP Stats, APLAC
CC courses taken: Elementary Korean Level 1, Abnormal Psychology, General Psychology
CC courses next year: Intermediate French Levels 4 - 6, Statistical Methods in Research Psychology, Intro to Cell and Molecular Biology, Intro to Existentialism, Social Psychology, Deductive Logic, Knowledge and Reality, Evolution and Ecology, Human Biology

I forgot to mention, UC GPA is 4.14. Just shy of UCB’s average GPA of 4.15 D:

I wouldn’t be as so cocky to put Barnard at low reach

shoot  is there anything I can improve on, other than my SAT scores? GPA is dead and buried, I highly doubt I can pull that up.

maybe a mid-high reach? high reach? sorry, I’m not trying to be cocky. I’m probably overestimating my abilities.

please? :)

the uc’s are really all about the numbers, so i think your gpa and SAT scores will definitely put you at a disadvantage… sorry but i think LA and Cal are a definite stretch for you. I went to a school with a million others asians with the same credentials (CSF, science club, all the same AP classes), and many of them didn’t make it with even the best ECs. but i think you’ll be fine for SD, USC, fordham. barnard is a reach, you can definitely get into nyu before barnard.

Yes, I know my GPA is low. Unfortunately, beyond getting all A’s, there is little I can do. Right now, I have above 95 in all of my classes and will continue to maintain this. As for the SAT, I definitely know I can pull it up to at least a 2200, but I do not know what I got on my second try as scores come out in six days.

You really think UCSD and USC are possible? I don’t know much about Fordham, but many people who are smarter than me have been turned away from these colleges.

I know Barnard is a bit of a reach, but I’m glad to hear that NYU is not so much of a reach. Barnard is definitely my dream, and hopefully I can pull my SAT scores and get great recs and make it in  Thanks for the feedback!

any other opinions?

You shouldn’t be that hard on yourself. You “slacked off” and got a 4.14? That’s great, considering that I got into UCD with a 3.75 UC GPA.

that’s my UC gpa, which for some reason is higher than my weighted gpa. my weighted gpa for 10-11 is 4.09 -___- do colleges include first semester senior year? if they do my weighted should be about 4.23, unweighted 3.81. i really screwed up first semester junior year.

Hopefully, UCs get better next year. The admissions were terrible this year, and a lot of people get rejected. Not to discourage you, but I think that UCs focus more on numbers. I had above average ECs, a 4.2 UC GPA, and a 2210 SAT score, but I (as expected) got rejected to Cal and LA. My best advice would be to work on your test scores.

Yeah, so I heard. conversely, those who got rejected here got into great schools out of state, like carnegie mellon, nyu, bu, cornell, etc etc. I’m not really focusing on UCs, although the cheaper prices are certainly attractive. My dream is Barnard, and I expect my test scores to come up, especially in math. How well do you think my stats would fare at Barnard, NYU, Fordham, and Pace? NY is really where I want to be, although other LACs such as Kenyon, Mount Holyoke, and Swarthmore and Wellesley (both reach again) definitely interest me too.

any other opinions?

I received my March SAT results and I bumped it up slightly to 2130 - up from 590 to 660 in math! Still studying so I can improve in October.

Will this help me get in anywhere?

Also will volunteering at a museum (Tech Museum) help me? And I also model in Nordstrom fashion shows as well as some local designer shows (recently walked for White House Black Market in a charity show), but I don’t know if I should mention that since it’s not an EC or academic. If I had to categorize it it would probably be classified as a job since I am paid for it.

That’s gonna put you in a slightly better spot for your top schools, but I agree that Barnard is still a stretch and the top UCs (Berkeley, LA, and possibly San Diego), plus USC, are out of reach. I still think Barnard’s a somewhat-lower reach, which could get better with your (apparently very good) grades coming in at the end of this year and an improvement on your October SAT. Good luck!

Be sure to chance me back, please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back-4.html
