I'm a senior at an eastern Kansas public high school (KC area to be specific) applying to Emory as an International Relations/Poli Sci major, and here's a quick stat run-down...

-35 ACT (woo-hoo, and on the 1st taking)
-3.75 UW GPA, 4.25 W GPA
-Rank: 34/400 (yup, just barely in the top 10%)

-APs:

Freshman: AP Euro
Sophmore: AP Statistics
Junior: AP US History, AP English, AP Chemistry
Senior: AP Psychology, AP Calc AB, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics (self-study), AP Microeconomics (ditto)

-ECs:

-Orchestra: I am a cellist, and have been active for all 4 years of HS (and 5 years previously), and in class for 3 (decided to free up the hour during senior year, mainly b/c I wasn't learning anything from the class), but I still practice on my own free time through private lessons and self-study (and I teach my 11yo sister who loves the instrument too, ha). The amount of time I've spent is ludicrous in retrospect (thousands of hours).

-Debate: Soph-Senior year, have competed at the State tourney, have won a couple of Varsity tournaments and a few JV ones

-Young Democrats: founded this with a couple of like-minded friends; it really is a beacon of hope for us Kansans that aren't right-wing to the extreme. ;-)

there are a few, but not as important

-Other notes:
-I'm hispanic; I'm not sure this will really do anything, but I'll list it.
-I have taken 4 courses (College stats, calc, and 2 advanced english ones) at a local private college my father teaches at (not particularly prestigious at all, but tuition was free)
-My family's income is >$60k for 6 family members

Thanks in advance for anyone that comments; if you have any questions, I'll answer them promptly.
