Please Chance Me on Cornell

Hello all, I am a prospective EARLY DECISION Cornell applicant. I am hoping on applying to the College of Engineering. My current High School GPA is 3.9 although this year (not being counted in the previous GPA) has been stellar and will no doubt push me to a 4.0. My school offers GPAs up to 4.3, however. I took the SATs and got around an 1800, I know, not that good but I am already signed up to take them again and was having an off day. Once I graduate High School, I will have taken:
-3 years of Honors English
-1 year of Honors Chemistry
-3 years of Honors History
-2 years of Honors Math
-1 year of AP Calculus
-1 year of AP Physics
-1 year of AP English (Litcomp)

As for Extra Curriculars, I have:
-Been in the State Champion Marching Band at my school for 5 years, and am currently Drum Major
-2 years Math League
-2 years Science League
-2 years Synergy (Literary Magazine)
-4 years Varsity Jazz Band
-3 years JV Jazz Band
-3 years of the Musical
-Planning on doing JSA (Debate team) next year

Community service:
-Haven for Hope (Nonprofit organization that brings city kids with terminal illnesses to the country)
-Town clean ups (with Marching Band)

Work experience:
-I worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant for 5 months, and am getting another job soon.
-I live and work on a farm

Achievents:
-Drum Major in the Marching Band
-Honor Role many times
-Principles list many times.

Mind you I am planning on applying to Cornell early decision. Please chance me, as I would greatly appreciate it. I am planning on visiting Cornell later this spring.

Your ECs are very good, considering that you come from a rural area. The job, especially, adds a lot to your application. Your GPA is good enough as well. The only thing I could tell you is to raise your SAT score (preferably to above 2250), or to take the ACT instead. Your course-load seems a bit light, but that might just be your school. Are you taking the most rigorous courseload that your school offers?

My only other recommendation would be to work on your personal statements and essays early. You don’t have the flashiest resume, but a good personal statement will show adcoms that you made the maximum use of the opportunities provided to you.

Yes, these are the most rigorous courses offered at my school. A 2250 SAT score would be fantastic, but honestly I feel that it would be a little out of reach for me. I am aiming for a 2000, would that be enough?

P.S. Wonderful name. :P

Do you have any hooks? (first gen? URM? legacy? underrepresented state? Female since you’re applying to the engineering school?)

I am a white boy whose parents went to college, and sadly, I am not famous.
