Explanation of dropping down to regular math/science:
I planned to go full-IB, the most rigorous program offered at school, but I felt that it would not serve me well for a couple reasons. First, I'm weak in the maths/sciences. Going to a maths/sciences oriented school only makes keeping up my grades harder, which means I have to spend a ridiculous amount of time in those areas, only to get a B and drain energy away from what I could be doing better in. It would also take me away from my passion, art. That's why halfway through sophomore year, I dropped down to regular math and science to free up time and let myself perform better at subjects I'm good at. I know some incredible people can juggle full-IB and EC with no problem, but I'm not one of those people.
I wonder if I made the right decision, but it's what I felt was right at the time.

Yale is my first choice and dream college of all time. I fell in love with it in my college visit, and the more I read about it, the more I love it. (The college lecture videos really helped. :0 ) I plan to apply Early Action. Do you think this is okay, or would you recommend I wait for Regular Decision? Why?

Thanks! I just wanted to give as much information as possible, which is why I included an explanation. Sorry if I rambled. :)

-heukki

Could someone give some feedback, please? :)

“Students reporting SAT results are required to have official SAT I and SAT II test results from all test dates reported to Yale directly from the College Board.”
[Instructions for Reporting Your Scores | Application to Yale College | Freshmen | Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/application/score_reporting.html)

@ OP
You cannot use College Board’s score choice in Yale admissions. If you wish to send one SAT or SATII score, you must self-report and send all available SAT and SATII tests to admissions.

For juniors it’s too hard to tell. And your class ranking would really help, because you’re hitting a lot of B’s and not going for the full IB. Your counselor will not be able to say that you took the most rigorous schedule available to you, and Yale would much rather see that you took on as much as you could.

You have no outstanding accomplishments, and while your SAT score is very good, your grades and schedule just aren’t. Of course, you are a great and talented high school student, probably one of the best that you know. But so is everyone else applying to Yale. The pool you’re being judged against is ultra-competitive, and you’re going to have trouble standing out unless you submit an exceptional art portfolio or some majorly awesome essays. And I don’t mean just a good art portfolio. I mean one that shows real artistic potential (like you could someday actually be a professional photographer, and a very good one at that).

Submit the Korean Subject Test.

samsunimomo and silverturtle - oh, I didn’t realize that we need to send all SAT 2 scores as well. Thanks!

christiansoldier - I see. Perhaps I’ll make an updated chance thread at the end of junior year and see how much better I do. By then, I’ll have more accomplished and have actual grades to show. Thank you for your criticism! :)

Also, do senior year APs count at all? Because I’m confused–when people say they’ve taken, oh, say 11 AP tests, does that generally mean they took all 11 before senior year or in total? While I’ll have taken 10 APs in total, I’ll only have results from 4 AP tests when I write my college applications. It’s making me nervous.

I say it to mean freshman through junior year. Senior year APs typically do not count. Yes, there are people who take 11 (or more than 11) AP test before their senior year. AP tests also typically aren’t a very large factor in college admissions.
