Please Chance Me! UCSD, UCLA, UofM, NYU

Hello I am currently a junior at a pretty competitive high school. I want to see what schools that I might be able to get into next year. There are some things I am worried about like during my freshman year I did really poorly one semester and got a 3.0 GPA (that's why my 10-12 GPA is far above my total GPA. Also, during my sophomore year I got lazy and decided not to take rigorous courses like English 2 honors, AP World History or Algebra 2/Trigonometry. I am from California and plan on applying to many UC's and have heard that they don't use your freshman GPA which is good for me. Thank You.

Total Honors: English 1, Geometry, Spanish 2, Spanish 3 (planned for Senior year- Spanish 4 honors, Precalc (weighted)
Total AP's:United States History, Environmental Science, (planned for Senior year- Government, Economy, Physics 1, Literature, Calculus AB-if I take a Precalculus class this summer

Academic GPA: Weighted: 3.60 Non-Weighted: 3.52
Total GPA: Weighted:3.67 Non-Weighted: 3.60
10-12 GPA: Weighted 3.93 Non-Weighted: 3.80

SAT: 1890 (Reading-570 Math-670 Writing-650) probably take it again
ACT: Taking in June
Will possibly take Math SAT Subject Test

EC's:
Will be Wrestling for 3 years- hopefully Varsity Captain
100 hours Community Service (mostly at an Animal Hospital)
Member of School Club for 2 years (Not well-known club, just club made by this school)
Member of club Miracles for Kids

Extras:
Lives in California
Hispanic
Received Coaches Award for Wrestling
Won award in Spanish 1 class (forgot what it was for, something to do with being the best student)
2 year scholar athlete
Hopefully will have great recommendation from math teacher
Engineering is intended major

Colleges:

University of Michigan
UCLA
USC
UC Berkeley
UC San Diego
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech
Penn State
Boston College

Thank You!

For the UC’s you need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
Your SAT is below average for most of the schools listed. I would say you would need a GPA of 4.0+ to be competitive and an ACT of 31+. Repost when you have your UC GPA and ACT scores for better chances. EC’s are average and nothing distinctive.

@Gumbymom‌ thank you for your response! I got 3.95 as my Cal State university GPA

UMich, GA Tech, and upper UCs are all very high reaches for you. You may want to focus on the lower UCs and below. Good luck on your ACT and SAT retake. You do need better scores for most, if not all, the schools on the list.
