Do I have any shot at all at the President’s Award? or any scholarships?
I’ve only taken the SAT once, and I plan on taking it two more times. I dont know how much higher I can get it though.

You have pretty good stats, and from what ive seen around here you have a good shot at getting in. Improving your test scores will greatly increase your chances of getting in though, even if the improvement is only a little bit. If you’re going to retake the SAT, you should probably retake the ACT again (unless you dont plan on submitting an ACT).

Thanks so much for your answer!!
Yeah, im not planning on submitting my ACT scores…x__x i hated that exam so much.

Any thoughts on scholarships?

I don’t know how they calculate the scholarships, so youre guess is as good as mine. I heard something on these forums about them basing the scholarships on your “admission average”, so do really well senior year!

Retake your SAT. The admissions process for Canadians v.s. Americans are different. Most canadians are not aware of this fact. When I was admitted 2005, a 30 ACT or a 1300 SAT (no writing then) was what they expected of most americans. I’ve heard they are a little lower.

Your shot of scholarships is very little, and there is no aid other than student loans. Also I would no go to any Canadian school if my only means of affording it a scholarship offer. It is much more difficult to keep scholarships in Canada, than american schools. They generally require higher GPA, and grade deflation is practiced more widely among Canadian schools. At UBC generally a student is expected to maintain an 80 average each year to keep their scholarship, and an 80 average is quite high. In my four years at UBC, I only met one individuals who managed this. I also met no foriegn student with a significant scholarships (maybe 4000$ a year or two courses worth of tuition). Many of these student had 85+ averages (top 10%).
