Hello guys, I'm fairly new to this but I want your ideas of my chances of getting into the colleges that I want. I am a junior right now. I was born in Somalia so I think I'm a urm. My WGPA is 3.9, taking 4 APs, 1 honors. ECs include Key club, Mun, sadd, asb, I played basketball last year if it matters. I haven't taken the sat yet but I expect something in the 1900s region. what are my chances with schools like UCSB, UCLA, Cal, and UCSD? Thank and any advice would be appreciated

UCSB is a match. UCSD looks like a low match/reach. UCLA and Cal are looking like reaches now but improve your GPA and you could get in.

UCSB will be easily done. However, your EC are vague… what asb position did you have? I feel as if they’re not special, to be honest, and there will be many kids in the same boat as you with nearly the same application, so you may want to try doing something out of the box to make yourself stand out. Most importantly, get that SAT up. Only scores above 2200 are competitive for schools like Cal and UCLA… even UCSD to an extent.

yea i don’t really have an important position in asb right now but i’ll be running for an office next year. vp or treasurer but i hold good positions in all my other clubs. thanks for the advice!

UCSB for sure. Cal and UCLA are reaches and UCSD is a match. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1605356-improve-your-chancing-skills-i-will-chance-back-please.html
