from a central california public school, ~800 kids
3.57 UW GPA, 3.93 W
Grades: As and Bs split pretty evenly I think, with 5 (yikes) Cs sprinkled throughout my transcript. However, I am expecting to have really strong grades this year (with 3 APs)
1 ap soph yr, 4 jr yr (BIG MISTAKE), 3 sr yr = 8 total
my grade trend is: good fresh yr, a little worse soph year, worse jr yr, great sr yr
5 on AP lit test, 4s on euro hist and us hist
class rank: #32/15% with W GPA (as of the end of last year)
SAT: 1800 (not going to submit this)
ACT: 29 (definitely using this instead)
SAT IIs: waiting on results
moderately strong ECs - newspaper, special biotech program, Pony Club (non-school related), several clubs, founded harry potter club, internship at a winery/vineyard, tutored in English, weekend job at a horse training barn for several years. that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

without further adieu, please chance me at:
UC santa cruz
UC LA
UC Davis
UC Riverside
UC SD
UC SB

unrelated, but I'm also applying at Lewis & Clark, Willamette, Santa Clara U, USF, Occidental, Cal Poly, Chapman, Boulder, U of Portland, and maybe Bryn Mawr.

thanks draco! that’s basically what i think too - definite in for sc/riverside, prob davis. I love davis so much! just working on the damn essays.

The percentages are just Maninder’s opinion. No one actually knows for sure whether you would be admitted to any, all, or none of the schools you are applying to nor does anyone know exactly what sort of chances you would have (barring, of course, if you did not meet minimum requirements, but there are even such things as admission by exception so you never know). People are rejected with better stats than yours and accepted with worse. It’s mostly a game of chance that depends highly on the number of applicants and how you do or do not stand out among them (especially with schools where a holistic application process is used).

Some of the UCs do still use a scoring method, though, and you can get a rough idea of where you would stand based on past admission years. But you will never know any kind of for sure percentage chance for the year you will apply. The only ones who will ever know for sure where they are going to be accepted is if the choose the transfer route and TAG their way there.

Good luck! I do hope whatever happens, you end up some place that makes you happy. Despite my negative tone, you are a strong applicant regardless and I wish you well.

thanks Kender. I know what you mean. I swear, sometimes I feel like colleges turn away perfectly good students just to keep future applicants on their toes, and maybe to apply “just in case”…yay more money for the college.
