Please Chance Me!!

What are my chances of gaining admissions?

White Male from Virginia

GPA
3.94/4.0 U.W
4.56 W

Rank
3-4/217

ACT
29 (Definitely retaking, this will hurt my chances)

Enrolled in a Gifted Program, along with taking all APs and Honor classes.

During 10th grade year, there was a problem with our gifted teacher and she deliberately gave everyone in the class a b. This dropped me out of first in the ranking. The board of supervisors and school board are deliberating on whether everyone should be awarded and A or a B, so my GPA/Rank may fluctuate

ECs

I come from a very competitive school that sends students to Harvard, JHU, MIT, Air force Academy etc. will definitely have good recommendations, along with a great essay. I have always dreamed of going to USC and this is definitely my number one choice. This is a rough resume, but if I apply early action, do I have a decent shot? Thank you for your input.

Your grades are excellent. You seem to like secretarial work ;). But what makes you tick? What's your likely major? Read this thread to see what kind of info I'd like to see in a chances thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/526451-so-you-want-know-your-chances.html

BTW, USC does not have an early application process, unless you count applying by the scholarship deadline.

Your GPA is great and that will weigh heavily in your favor. Your ACT is low for USC admits, so retaking should help. Since you come from a well-regarded HS, that will also help you.

FauxNom is correct pointing out your major and other EC factors will be heavily weighed. This past year, the overall admissions rate was 21%, but the very selective film school, for an example, has an admission rate of just 4-6%.

Best of luck!

You might want to consider taking the SATs along with a re-take of the ACT and then submit your best score.

Thank you for your replies! I plan on applying for Political Science and I am re-taking the ACT.
