<p>By looking at the Fall 08 Stats:
My UC GPA and the average( 3.95) are par
My SATs are way above average</p>
<p>I hear they are cutting off about 500 spots this year, making the stats a bit higher. Would this affect my chances of admission?</p>
<p>Well the reason why I was hesitant about labelling your stats as "safety" were these reasons:</p>
<p>GPA is the most important stat for UC admissions, which you're on par from last year's
UCI will have to cut it's enrollment by 500, which means 2,500 less admits based on that 1 in 5 admits will enroll into UCI.
UCI has received more applications than last year, by about 1,500 more</p>
<p>Same situation for UC San Diego too. </p>
<p>All this will lower your chance of admissions, but it'd be no surprise if you got accepted, yet at the same time, understandable if you got rejected. If I had to bet, I'd bet 70% you'd be accepted much in part by your SAT scores.</p>

I forgot to mention that I 150+ hours of community service
and ive been commended in the National Merit thing.</p>
<p>UCI is very selective in that major
as they are in most majors with science or engineering or business in them.</p>

<p>i think my essays are ok. I also have a rigorous senior load ( 4 APs).</p>
