For my son’s chances at UConn Storrs, please:

GPA - 3.48 (I’m embarrased to say I do not understand the distinction between weighted and unweighted) - perhaps someone can enlghten me.

SAT - 680 CR 710 Math 690 Writing

1 AP US History - B+, 4 on the AP College Boards
2 AP this year that he is not doing so good in B in Modern European History and C+ in Spanish - both of these classes are part of Uconns Early College Experience
Program. He has always been a slow starter. Unfortunately Uconn will see those 1st quarter grades. His overall GPA first quarter is 3.4.
His GPA is remarkably consisent over 3+ years

National Merit Commended Scholar

Very little activities at school after Freshman soccer and lacrosse because he works 2 paying jobs - one at at Boys & Girls club as a counselor. He is also a YMCA Summer Camp counselor. I mention that because he wants to be a teacher and felt getting experience with kids was important. Of course he said as much in his essay.

Wish we had figured out UConn did rolling admissions. His counselor led us to believe everything sat in a pile until 12/1 so we just submitted the app online on 11/11 and the other materials were sent 11/20(transcript, counselors letter).
We could have easily submitted in Sept/ctober but were waiting until he did Husky for a day in case he learned something that might help his app. What we learned is that most of the kids in the group had already submitted and now it seems answers are rolling in.

Hope that did not hurt his chances any.

I think he is on the bubble - and will be very nervous if he does not hear by Christmas.
