Just looking at the list I have to say that I doubt there is another school where he can get the quality of education he will get at UNC for ~$10K per year. But in the end, whatever makes him happy! So many great options.
We feel the same! UNC is his top choice at the moment. We visited CH and did an in-person tour last week , which helped him tremendously on confirming once again what a great opportunity he has been presented with.
He’s only waiting to hear from Univ of Florida next Friday. He wants to wait until UF decisions come out before commiting to UNC, out of respect for his sister, who is a Gator and would love he attends there But I dont think that would be enough for him to have a change of heart!
UPDATE
DS was admitted to University of Florida last Friday. This means he got into each of the 12 schools he applied to!
At this time, he’s only waiting to hear on some scholarships he was invited to apply for (Gtech and Villanova). UF scholarships are not notified until mid March.
UNC remains as option #1.
Is it too late to apply to Harvard and Yale?? You want to get turned down somewhere!! Well that’s what I told my kids
Congrats on all the offers and most importantly the $$ he was offered.
Very impressive young man.
Thank you! I totally get what you mean😀 Believe me! I cant tell you how many times, he has heard ‘ apply to Ivy League schools, you will get in’
As a full pay student, we are trying to maximize merit at the right school for him. Top schools are great meeting financial need, but when it comes to merit , it’s almost non existent.
My daughter declined a top 10 school ( $250k COA) for all full ride at Univ of Florida. She graduates this May with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering , has secured an amazing job offer with a top aerospace company and best of all , will graduate with no loans.
That is awesome!!! Sounds like your son will have a similarly amazing opportunity. Well done!
You have raised very smart kids.
FWIW, NCSU has one of the largest, if not the largest engineering career fairs in the country. It is an amazing university that is affordable and in a rapidly growing area. Yet I know kids that choose to go to schools like Swarthmore and such for enginnering, with little to no merit aid because of perceived prestige.
This was a great thread - thanks for sharing!
I think this is the first time I have seen on CC where someone got in to every school.
UPDATE:
DS committed to UNC Chapel Hill last week!
He plans to apply to Kenan Flager after his first year. If for any reason, he’s unsuccessful getting into their business program , he would go for a double major in Econ and Global Studies with a minor in Business.
Again, thank you all!
