Hook?
When I first began high school, I was going to drop out (my family was always encouraging and supportive but my entire environment aka ghettoness said otherwise.) So in my transcript, my first semester of freshman year has the grades of a dropout. Wrote my Autobiographical essay on how I got to believe in myself and did a 180 turn. From sophomore year to senior year, I've taken at least 10 classes a year (at school, plus online, plus over the summer). Went from ranking in the bottom 50% to ranking in the top 5%

Essays (9 total plus 15 short responses. Questbridge asked for 5 essays and the Penn Supplement was four more. I used the "additional information" whenever I could)

1: Autobiography. Growing up how I did.

2: All that has pushed me to wanting to one day become a politician

3: ALS research. Deep interest in the natural sciences.

4: President of my class.

5: Why Penn: Wharton and dual degree programs. Don't have to compromise my interest in business and science. Encourages me to explore all my intellectual curiosities.

6: Professor essay: Dr. Virginia Lee of Neurology Department. Worked on EXACTLY what I had researched throughout my summer (ALS + prions)

The other essays were on my resilience, explaining my huge courseload, etc.

Wharton has been my dream since sophomore year. I am also applying to:
- MIT
- Rice
- Swarthmore

How do I stand? I am nervous because I really wanted at least a 700 in the SAT Math. Thank you guys!!!

Everything looks ok but your math scores are very weak.

you better get some safeties/matches on your list or you might be in trouble comes april

^ I just realized I made a mistake. My SAT math is 660 not 690. I know it's only worse. =(

UPenn has been my first choise for years. Aside from the schools mentioned, I don't know where else to apply. I need a private school that'll give aid to international students. I want to major in finance and participate in some sort of medical research.

math is really weak for wharton. BUT, you definitely have a shot and I think your unique background (for Wharton applicants) may help you.
