My DD just got accepted into Stevenson as a boarding Freshman. Could any existing parents/students provide some comments and insights about the school?
Is their academic program rigorous?
Are the faculty members approachable?
Do students get along well?
How is Dorm Life at Steveson?

Highly credentialed English Department led by Chair David Schmittgens, who is a fantastic person and teacher.
A good friend of mine has a boarding daughter there now. The academics have been very strong. The child likes the school. The social life is a little different for the boarders, however, as there are many day students and the social life seems to revolve around what the day students are doing. Her daughter will be a senior this fall, the vast majority of her friends are day students. Perhaps there are more boarders in the underclasses but her (senior) class has a pretty big divide between day and boarder socially. Again, her daughter likes the school and has had a good experience there especially academically. The main con is simply my friend wishes it had a stronger boarding community socially. But I think that is my friend’s concern more than it is her daughter’s.
The new headmaster is an alum who recently was head of Hotchkiss in CT.
