Has anyone else received this letter and is it serious or an attempt to increase application revenue? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don’t be so suspicious. Yale and others send out hundreds of thousands of solicitations to mailing lists of kids that meet certain criteria – which they feel is a potential good pool for viable applicants. If you aren’t viable, don’t apply. If you are, consider Yale. Nothing sinister about that.

Please, I wasn’t trying to be sinister, just really like Yale and don’t want to get my hopes up.

OK, that’s understandable. But you’re correct – no one should have their hopes up for Yale (unless you’re 6’8" and have a sweet jumper and a 2200 SAT)

But know Yale and others do lots of mass mailings. Good luck to you
