Can anyone please critique my resume? My story: I was supposed to be put into Sales or Trading by my previous employer (agreement we made during my interview) but got laid off instead earlier this year. I have since picked up a new job but it seems that all that recruiters are calling me for are Operations-type roles. I'm most interested in Sales & Trading, but I'll do research, I-Banking, anything to get out of what I'm doing now...thanks

(I completed my undergrad in 2008 and I'm probably aiming for MBA school 2-3 years down the line - or if I could get into Trading now, forget the MBA altogether. I'm posting here since this site really helped me out back in 2003 when I was looking at which colleges to apply to.)

looks good, although i haven’t read too many resumes, so thats not saying much

i dont think here is the best place to post it though, as you said many people are simply “looking at which colleges to apply to” and don’t have much experience reading resumes

My first reaction was that you have mostly MO experience, so it might be tough to get a FO job without serious networking since you are a few years out. Might need to go the MBA route.

You should post on the free resume critique board on WallStreetOasis if you haven’t already. I’m no expert, but at first glance your resume isn’t “results focused” enough. So many bullet points for your first work experience – try to cut that down and go into more detail about the most influential ones. Might want to be a little more descriptive about your SA positions.

@ib612: I agree. I just figured there would be some people in the industry that are on this forum regularly.

@C-Revs: You are saying what I’m thinking. Just wanted to make sure it looked good before I started sending it off to my friends / contacts :)

@giants92: Done that Regardless, I didn’t do much (or at least don’t remember much) from my SA positions - and one was in IT which I want to de-emphasize.
