Hi. I’m an incoming freshman as a physics major to the college of letters and science. **I wanted you guys to take a look at my schedule and tell me if it’s 1.) Rigorous enough 2.) Going to help me towards satisfying my Physics/GE requirements and 3.) Sufficiently strenuous (Mentally/Physically) **

However, I am planning to apply to medical school after Davis!

Please critique me as I have had no advising and I had to make these course decisions alone!

1.) Calculus 21B (4 units)

2.) Physics 9HA (Honors) (5)

3.) Research Methods in Psychology (4)

4.) Don Quixote (Humanities) (2)

According to this schedule I have Physics 9HA, Psychology 041, and Don Quixote the same day and Calc 21B and Physics 9HA and Psych 041 the same day another day. Is this too taxing?

This is a total of 15 units. Another question I have is how common is it for incoming freshman to take 15 units per quarter? Am I on the right track toward becoming a successful physics major/medical school applicant?

I apologize if I presented my questions unclearly, as I did the best to sort of get my question across! The bold questions are my main points.

Thanks for the prompt replies! My career is resting on this!

It's rigorous. 15 units is common I'd assume. I have 15...and it's pretty straightforward. I don't think loading yourself up so much as a Freshman would exactly show if you're like "different" if that's what you're going for. It's just courses that you take for yourself to pass the MCATs successfully. That's all usually a given...this really isn't high school with AP classes and SATs anymore or "z0mgz they need to be all AP's / rigorous."

Thanks. I'm actually on waitlist for Calc 21B..but I'm the 2nd guy on waitlist and I believe it's just me and someone else.

Please keep the responses flowing!

Thanks =]

Cool stuff. I just accidentally f#$%ed myself up by dropping accidentally from a course... not sure if I can call or....tell them ...but now I'm on the waitlist....#10 and only 8 remaining. (16A). Damn...

Can I drop Don Quixote? This schedule looks too overwhelming! Is there anything wrong with taking 13 units, or will I have to make up that extra 2 units somewhere along my undergrad education?

Nothing is wrong with taking 13 units. A lot of people I know at Davis already, are taking 13. 13 just means that you're taking heavy courses but you want balance your first year. Along your 2nd,3rd, and 4th years..these 2 units won't make a big difference as long as you fufill your Arts, Humanties, and Social science credits.
