<p>Here is my essay:</p>
<p>"Is the opinion of the majority -in a government or in any circumstances- a poor guide?" My answer would be YES! Following the opinion of the majority just because they are great in number is just an automation, mindless following. Not considering the opponent perspective or even your own. My personal experience would endorse my point of view.
Let's consider my elder sister, Noor. At my age she got a huge score that she could enter any college with even full scholarship. She had the dream of being a lawyer. she thought of defending innocent people and accommodate truth and justice to rise up. But my parents aimed for the zenith, which is of course in each and every one's point of view, the Medical School. They wanted Noor to become a doctor instead of what she was intrested in, lawyer. And when she took her friends' point of view, the answer was "OF COURSE! MEDICAL SCHOOL! What would you think other than that?!" So mostly all of the opinions she heard was to go to medical school, and indeed she went. But unfortunately, because of her non-intrest in such a field, she failed. And after wasting one year in medical school, she transferred to a law school. Eventhough the majority advised on just staying in medical school and exhausting herself more due to be a doctor, she ignored it all and went to law school. And wonderfully, she succeeded in her college and even in her job after that. So what i have discovered from her experience was that if she blindly followed the majority, her state would be wreck havock until now. But because she saved herself and decided to do what she think is best, she succeeded and did what she genuinly wanted.
A relevant example is when Galileo opposed the government of his time, declaring that Earth's round and not oval. Although the authority and the people believed that Earth was oval, he insisted on it being round and spherical. He was jailed and even accused of being insane but after that people discovered that he was right and Earth is in gact spherical shape. If he just let it go and let himslef be misguided, maybe til now we would have been living on Earth as if it is oval.
So as my examples show, I think that following the majority can be really misguiding. And i advice people to think and stick to their point of views no matter what or who is opposing.</p>
