Assignment: Is creativity needed more than ever in the world today?

Most things that we want to do have almost always been done by someone else in the world today. This makes creativity essential in today's world where each of us is expected to bring something new to the table lest our jobs be outsourced or mechanized, our papers be declared plagiarized and so on.

The computer was already prevalent when Steve Jobs started Apple and revolutionized the way we viewed technology. He did not invent the computer, he only used his creativity and intellect to create the Mac. He did not invent mp3 players, he just revamped them to make the iPod. His creativity enabled him to create the one of the biggest technological giants ever.

Most of us tune into our favorite Youtube channels a couple of times a week. The content that they create is nothing new. Hundreds make what's in my purse, room tour, introduction to limits, 10 ways to make your life more productive videos, but each has it's own idiosyncrasies. Doc Schuester teaching Modern Physics and FlippingPhysics teaching the same are as different as the former teaching swimming and the latter teaching dancing (in terms of presentation and style, not content!). If all Youtube channels made similar videos on a particular topic, three-fourths of Youtube would become redundant.

Teachers today also need to have fecund and creative ideas for teaching in order to sustain student interest because every kid knows that if something doesn't make sense to them in class, they can always look it up on the internet or learn it at their tutoring centers.

Our ability to tinker with things already out there is what constitutes creativity. Creativity is what has driven research and innovation through the centuries and is what will continue to do the same even more so as the world progresses.

Thanks :)

The sentence “each of us is expected to bring something new to the table lest our jobs be outsourced or mechanized, our papers be declared plagiarized and so on” makes me feel like there’s something more to be desired. I would not end your sentence that way.

The sentence “Hundreds make what’s in my purse, room tour, introduction to limits, 10 ways to make your life more productive videos, but each has it’s own idiosyncrasies.” is also kind of confusing. I suppose if they are titles of videos, they are ok, but from this if I can’t tell immediately, it reads kind of awkward. I like your line about the physics, but perhaps using titles of specific youtube channels would be confusing if someone is not familiar with it. If you are going this route, make sure you pay attention to your capitalization and punctuation. The paragraph can become confusing very easily so perhaps there are other examples you can use. (You seem to be very knowledgeable about youtube channels and videos though)

I’ll be careful with the capitalization and punctuation. Thanks!
