Please help! Difficult situation!

Hello everyone,

I am a sophomore at a prestigious Midwestern LAC that I absolutely hate. I thought about transferring at the end of last year, but I had no idea where I wanted to look, and things started to look up for me at my current college. I came back to school for my fall semester, and I fell into a deep depression because I realized I hated my school so much (yes, I have been officially diagnosed with depression). My grades indefinitely suffered, and I received a 2.08 GPA for the semester and a 2.61 cumulative GPA (I received a 3.0 my first semester and a 2.87 cumulative second semester). I still am at this college because I had an amazing opportunity to take a trip to Argentina in January - which I don't regret at all. However, as I begin to look at transferring again, I realize my grades are definitely not up to snuff. I guess I'm trying to ask if there is any chance for me to transfer to a good school for next year?

Thanks everyone!!!

It’s a possibility if you can explain your situation well on your application. Your high school grades were strong if you’re at a prestigious school (I’m assuming). I suggest getting in contact with admissions counselors at schools you’re thinking of for next year. Deadlines are just around the corner for fall transfers, so you don’t have much time either.

Yeah, my high school grades were pretty strong (3.67 at the end of my senior year) and I had a really good ACT score (29) and a rigorous schedule filled with APs. Thanks for your help!
