what’s six months? and besides… aren’t you doing that thing where you basically take classes at Berkeley in the fall anyway? So what’s the difference?

i rather like the idea of having six months “off”…i’ve noticed that a lot of paid internships are MUCH easier to get during the academic year and there’s much less competition, i would also take a couple of classes i haven’t really had a chance to since i’ve been taking required classes almost solely, also, not sure how feasible this is, but i knew someone who did middle college and because he took all easy night classes and had tons of free time during the day, was able to work with a stanford prof on economics research simply because he could devote more time towards the research than anyone else (he contacted many diff profs himself since he could not be in any kind of program to help find research due to not being a stanford student lol), and i’d like some free time in general, something i’m always looking for lol :] i really don’t like how haas forces its students to finish their business courses in 2 years…no exceptions :[

omg breaking news…i know where emilsinclair9 is going!!! (lol that is if he hasn’t changed his mind) :p

he said i could say that i know…but that’s it 0_0

Mr. Robinette I will fight you if you do not tell me where you are going in the fall.

emil!! let us know!

U. C. LLLLLLLL. A.

ucla fight fight fight!

Emil you better tell us ASAP!!!

It’s not like you’ll last long without posting something on CC! ;P!

tomato or tomata?

lol emilsinclair9 will post soon, he hates to keep you guys waiting.

:(

Both great programs. Weather is nicer here in LA, and honestly if you grew up in the bay area, why not try something new =).

As for the whole girls debate… it’s so stupid. If you “can’t get girls” in any school location, I hate to break it to you but you just DON’T HAVE GAME. Grow a pair and get out there, gentlemen.

Good luck emil. I’m mostly a lurker here as I don’t have much to offer to people, but from what I can tell you’re a great kid.

are you sad you aren’t going to hit 3000? You were getting close :(

hell no i am not sad…getting banned has been a good thing.

i can post like a freak without being ashamed.

i think i will stick with janethed0e for awhile.

make my last post as janethedoe…and then retire her.

I thought it was banned or whatever?

yeah till May something or other…

Lol @ the phrase “Retire her.” Jane is a mafia kingpin.

hell yeah i is.

lol as you can tell i am not modest tho!

Janethedoe got pwned by Janethed0e.

hahahahaha awww poor janethedoe :(

lol this is getting weird…peace i’m out.

we need to get you good and drunk

Well guys, I’ve made my decision.

First of all, I really appreciate and want to thank everyone for posting on here! You guys are the best! Some of the advice and help that I received really impacted my decision: like the variation in the psych departments that sakurax spoke about, the differences in environment, and overall feel of both schools and areas.

In particular, I really want to thank you, sakurax, for helping me with everything! You’ve been my mentor over the past couple of months, and I wouldn’t have a clue about the psych department or what sort of classes and requirements it entails without your help. It would be great to meet up with you sometime and discuss anything and everything psych-related! lol. Congratulations on Princeton btw; that is truly amazing!

Anyway guys, I also want to apologize for taking so long to get back to everyone on here. This has been my finals week (I have 1 last final tomorrow), and I didn’t want to go over 2,000 posts until this one :). Today I was officially not permitted to switch into fall at Berkeley, but I had made up my mind either way.

In the end, I had to pick the department that suited me best. I love both schools, the environments are different - but I’m easily adaptable, the people are all bright, and essentially, I realized that there really isn’t a wrong answer.

By department, I went and searched EVERY class offered at UCLA and UCB in the psych departments 2 nights ago. UCLA’s are more science-based i.e. Cognitive Psych, Biochem of the brain, etc. UCB’s were more social-based. People on here told me that, but I had to see for myself lol. My personal preference is social-based. I’m solid at science, but it isn’t my passion.

There were certain draws and aspects of both campus that I truly loved. Those that know me - you guys probably know many of these. However, in the end, I had to go with my dream school. I’ve wanted to go since I was little. The history, psych and phil departments, traditions, proximity to SF and my home, cost, among other perks and things - led me to Berkeley. I need that sense of unrestrained, philosophical, inquisitive passion that I pick up on every time I go visit.

The wait until spring is a bummer, but I’m going to make the most out of my time and the best out of my situation! I’m already looking for prospective fall internships and jobs. I feel like this -could- be an advantage for me. No decision is ever fool-proof, but I’ll figure things out as I make my way to Cal!

Thank you all for your input, assistance, and words of wisdom and kindness! Some of you guys are going to go out and change the world - for real. Those of you that I’ve met in real life (UCB Transfer Bridges FTW!) or are friends with me on fb - you guys are the best!

I’m going to post more in this thread and address people specifically tomorrow. For now, I have to go study for my Experimental Psych final :p. Talk to you all soon!..oh yeah, and GO BEARS!
