I did not do a lot of self-reporting of my disciplinary history when I applied to college. And I say this as someone who was on a first name basis with the assistant principals during my high school days despite only getting caught for about 5% of the stuff I actually did.
Speaking as something of an expert in bad behavior during high school, I also do not find the OP’s story credible. All she can do at this point is live and learn.
If the common application from a school has a custom question asking about past discipline or plagiarism, I would strongly advise against not self reporting. That unfortunately is also called lying and at most schools would constitute an honor code violation and potentially risk the revocation of an acceptance or other punishments.
OP sorry I know you deleted a few recent posts. Hang in there you will get through this. Be truthful and learn from this!
Apparently joking is not allowed with some posters.
Also, selective quoting of posts to change the meaning of what was said is bad form. I am not interested in a back and forth on this. Please do not do it.
A 17 year old that is faced with an extremely stressful and consequential situation may not understand the attempted nuance or humor of your comment and take your example of “only getting caught 5% of the time” and “I did not do a lot of self reporting” as a suggested course of action. Please consider your audience isn’t the adults on the site but a child who started a thread “Please help”.
Joking is great when on a parent forum not when a kid is pleading for adult support and advice.
With a ~17 year old kid whose freaking out on an internet forum? Probably not, particularly in the absence of an emoji, hashtag, or some other means. It’s always helpful to know your audience.
Alright, I deleted my old messages but I feel like I should post them again because it might help someone else in the future.
My score was canceled, and I received an email with a letter that detailed why my score was canceled (which was recalled and sent again, but whatever). I registered for a couple of AP Exams and an SAT, and I was able to do that without any difficulty, so I’m assuming that means that everything is over now. I also did not receive any sort of disciplinary action from the school and there is nothing on my transcript either, for anyone who missed that a couple of messages ago.
Thank you so much to everyone who replied in this thread or DMed me privately to help me with this situation!
If it is true, then in that situation, it is better to accept the fault and look forward to take the proper decision by the university. Otherwise you can take legal action for false accusation.
