So.. im finishing up junior year with a 3.05 gpa (solid B at my school) and a 3.24 cumulative gpa.
my weighted gpa i think is about a 4.0 which is low...

anyways I just realized how terrible my gpa is. Like ive been working hard but not hard enough. And I know I am smart but i just can never get the grades I want.

anyways I am really scared for college applications!
Where the heck can I go? I want to get into the best possible school but Im suddenly realizing that I am hardly a competitive student

whats worse is that my gpa for sophomore year was a 3.4 and then it dropped to a 3.05 because I joined the IB diploma program.

Anyways where in the world can a 3.05/4.0 gpa student with a 1750 SAT score (didnt study for it. retaking it in oct. hoping to get my score wayy up)

I have a lot of extra curricular activities and before IB I was enrolled in all advanced classes except for two honors each year.

Im looking at schools on the east coast (im from NJ). And none that are super expensive. Some that Im interested in (But dont think i can get into most of them) are

University of Florida
Florida State University
U of Central Florida
University of Delaware
UMass
Elon
George Washington
SUNY Binghampton
SUNY Stony Brook

Please help! Im Scared!! Also I am applying in October because my parents are pressuring me to apply earlier to help my chances. Also I have a heavy senior year work load (

please give me some suggestions at other schools i should look at.
Oh also Penn State (university park) is on that list but im not sure ill get in because i didnt realize that its so much harder to get into now (brother went there like 15 years ago)

What state do you live in? That will determine which public universities are in-state for you.

How much can you pay? That will determine whether or not you need to find financial aid.

There are a whole bunch of threads with titles like “where did your 3.0 kid go?” in the Parents Forum. Spend some time reading through them for ideas.

Im not applying to rutgers because it is a crap ass school. plus it is more expensive than going to a SUNY state school. and more expensive for me to go there than florida

vodka, it’s OK if you don’t like Rutgers. But, you still need a NJ state school on your list. Just in case. Pick one…Montclair, Ramapo, Rowan, etc., just so you’ll have that option if (heaven forbid) the other schools fall through. Go visit some and fine one you like the best.

I honestly don’t get why people don’t study for their first attempt at the SAT. It costs about $50, doesn’t it? Why are you throwing away your money just for a crappy score?

And isn’t the PSAT, if anything, supposed to be the test that you should come unprepared for?

Hey! Get off Snooks. Ever heard of FUN? Wake Forest had Snookie visit too (I live in NC) and Wake is NOT crappy lol.

As for other schools, look into the UNC system. They have some good schools that accept lower GPA’s… Don’t know much about Nothern east coast schools.
