I posted this before, but no one replied...

What am I supposed to put in the "academic" section for my courses?

My school has different codes for different courses... like a grade 12 English course is

"English 40". And this is how it is written on my transcript.

BUT... How do colleges know what these codes mean (like the level of the course)...

Should I just put "English 12" or "English 40"?

Thanks!

I would put English 12. Can't give you a definite answer, but that seems the most right to me.

Doesn't your school report explain the codes that your HS uses for different levels/grades of classes? My only concern with putting English 12 is that it won't jive with what's on your transcript. If it's not in your school report, your GC should give an explanation in their evaluation.

Oh... okay,
but wouldn't they look at my transcript and be puzzled by all these codes?
do schools in the states have codes?

OK, they read your Secondary School Form which says English 12. Then they look at your transcript which says English 40. Sounds like a disconnect to me. IMO you need to be consistent AND you need to explain the codes. The latter is easily done via your school report or GC.

I'm not sure if some US HSs use number codes similar to yours, but I can say that there are a multitude of names and numbers of courses and not a lot of standardization. That is the purpose of the school report (which is sent with your transcript), to explain how your HS lists courses, grades, etc.

Thank you very much, entomom. You are fantastic : )

You're very welcome, good luck!
