Hi everyone,
I am currently a sophomore at a community college in my home town. I will be finishing gen eds there, and I am looking to find somewhere to transfer to for the last two years. I am looking for somewhere with a good writing program. My hometown is St. Louis, but I would prefer to go away. I would pretty much consider anywhere as an option, but I am more keen on schools that are not in the middle of nowhere. Mid size, 7,000-15,000 is preferred. I have a 3.6 GPA. Again, my major is english-creative writing, and I would like to double major or minor in history or political science. Thank you!
Your instate universities would probably be your best bet financially.
Transfers receive very little funding. Are you prepared to pay full fees for OOS universities?

If you review the schools individually, you may find one that meets your general criteria.
You intend to major in English or Creative Writing. Please keep the costs low. You can move after you graduate.
Kenyon College in Ohio.
Are you in need of significant financial aid ?
Have you spoken with the Transfer Advisor at your CC? That person’s whole job is to help students like you find good places to transfer to. Even though most of the students at your CC probably stay in MO to finish their degrees, the Transfer Advisor should have some ideas of options for you outside MO.
Mizzou is good for writing, SEMO is inexpensive. Your in-states would be the best for getting everything to transfer. Truman State has all the majors/minors you want, is highly regarded and on the lower end of cost.
Washington University in St. Louis has a very strong English Department and has creative writing courses for undergraduates. Its Creative Writing MFA is one the the top ranked programs in the US. Do you need financial aid? Check out requirements for transfer students on website.
