Please help me find some colleges to apply to!

Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a good day. As we all know, it’s time to apply to college, but I am having trouble finding colleges that I REALLY want to apply to. I have a list of some schools I think are cool, or have visited, but I am not overly in love with any of them. Could you help me find some colleges to check out, and possibly add to my list?

On my list is currently:

  • American University
  • DePaul University
  • Emory University
  • Loyola Marymount University
  • Miami University
  • New York University
  • Santa Clara University
  • Seattle University
  • University of Portland
  • University of San Diego
  • University of San Francisco
I know this seems like a lot of schools, but like I said, I am willing to knock some off and replace them for others if I feel another school would be a better fit.

Some facts about me:

  • I have a 3.9 weighted GPA, 3.7 unweighted. I am ranked 20 out of 102 in my class.
  • My SAT superscore is an 1800, and my highest ACT is a 26 (I am retaking the ACT in October)
  • I play varsity soccer and lacrosse, and plan on playing club in college.
  • I am a dancer, photographer, and artist.
  • I have taken 2 APs, passed both; I am taking 4 APs this year and hope to pass them as well.
  • I have won a few art contests schoolwide.
  • I have 200+ of community service.
  • I want to major in either international relations or political science; and possibly minor in history or Spanish.
  • I live in northern California, but am willing to go almost anywhere for school.
  • I want a school with between 6,000-25,000 students, and in an urban area or college town. Bottom line, I’d like things around to do off campus.
  • Cost is not an issue.

Since cost is not an issue and you have good stats, your list is fine. You may not get into NYU, Santa Clara, Emory, or UMiami, but the rest are match and safeties.

If you want to replace Emory, Miami and NYU, maybe include Loyola-Chicago, Gonzaga, and Marquette. Fordham might be a reach, but you’re full pay and maybe that would help.

If you like NYU and American, Boston U has a really similar feel and an amazing international relations program, your should definitely look into it

What about University of Florida?

You seem to like being in or near a city. Consider Fordham, Tulane both of which have non-binding EA.
