Okay, I am a somewhat artsy and liberal senior attending high school in Texas. I really want to go to a school where I will be able to fit in with at least some people and not be the complete opposite of everyone there.

My guidelines for the college are:
1. Cannot be more than 16 hours driving away from Texas, so sadly I cannot go up north.
2. Has to be a public school, no community colleges and no private colleges(for money purposes).
3. I would prefer the school to be well known, not necessarily prestigious, just one every one has heard of.
4. And I have to be able to get in.

My GPA is a 3.8.
My class rank however, is sort of low, mainly due to my lack of care my freshman year. 185 out of 301.
SAT scores: 1670. 520 Math, 550 Critical reading, 600 writing.
My other main issue is that my only extra curricular is a job as a cashier.

I hope that is enough information. Please help me, I would really like to find the right school so I can get the most out of the money my parents are spending and to have the ideal college experience.
Thanks.

If you plug your info into the SuperMatch feature of CC it should provide you with a list for you to start with. The college Navigator is also good for this because you can specify a range of miles from a zipcode to limit the search.
Are you getting ANY help from a guidance counselor at school?

Perhaps criteria #2 should be changed to a net price limit, since some public schools are expensive, and some private schools are generous with need or merit aid.

The best way to get an idea of the colleges that are right for you is to take the coleege confidential college fot test or the one on college board. Also try talking to your school guidence counselor, they tend to know a lot about this stuff.
