Please Help Me Find the Right Fit!

Hi there! I’m going to be a junior next year and am just starting to begin my college search. I know I want to be on the East Coast as this is where my family is, and I love the New England area. I want to be at a liberal arts school with a preferably beautiful campus. I hope to study english, government, history, and french as those are my favorite subjects. I’d also like to mention that I like a more traditional college setting, and my style is “preppy” in a traditional sense as well. I’d like most of the student body to fit this same standard as well. I am currently in boarding school and am eager to go somewhere where I can receive a great education with like-minded students! Currently schools on my list include: Dartmouth College, Wellesley College, Trinity College, Middlebury College, and Bowdoin College. If you have any more suggestions for schools fitting this criteria or comments on those I am currently researching, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

“with a preferably beautiful campus”

This online article highlights some: “The 25 Most Beautiful College Campuses in America” / Thrillist.

More generally, in addition to the schools you’ve identified already, other NESCAC colleges or St. Lawrence could suit you really well.

What is your SAT score?

My SAT score in 2250.

Basically any of the NE and mid-Atlantic LACs would fit that description.

Break out your Fiske Guide, try to arrange some visits next Spring and Summer.

In addition to those you mentioned, Amherst, Bates, Hamilton, Haverford, Vassar, Williams are also worth a look. After some touring you will figure out which are best for you.

You might fall in love with Mount Holyoke. In addition to a beautiful campus designed by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted who designed Central Park, the student body is very politically active and many major in Politics, International Relations, History, and various self-designed majors that include courses in all of those fields. The campus is 800 acres with two lakes and three waterfalls. What’s not to like?
