I have an urgent, time-sensitive question regarding courses. I am considering transferring colleges, and one of the classes I am currently enrolled in is one taught by an extremely hard teacher that I believe would either be impossible to do well in or completely ruin my semester. With that said, I am considering transferring out and into another class to preserve either my GPA or overall happiness, but have a question.

How important is the course rigor in the transfer admissions process? I ask because right now in order to satisfy requirements I can either take a hard math class or a less hard or even easy math class, one in which I'd logically have more of a chance of getting a better grade in, but am unsure as to which one to pick, though ideally I should pick pretty soon because I don't know how long those math classes are going to be open. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

The way I, and I assume they, figure it: A B grade in a really challenging class is better than an A in a write-off.

Well its basically A Renaissance Literature Class taught by an insane professor known to not give many B's, let alone A's, versus Calculus 1, which I have not taken before but from what I've heard anything is better than that Literature Class...

I thought from your OP that your choice was between a "hard math class or a less hard or even easy math class"?

I apologize if I was unclear or confusing. dlm.jorge, I was unsure as to whether the "B in the hard class" was referring to the Literature class I am currently in or the harder Calculus class, and for what reason I don't know I thought you were referring to the Literature class and then went into more detail about the literature class. Sorry.

I'm trying to decide between the replacements (math), and was wondering how important and also recognizable is course rigor because right now things look really dim in the lit class. It's what should be a fairly easy class taught by an insane professor.

bumpity bump bump ba dump

From Andale's sticky thread on Transfer Admissions 101:

"What Matters Most?
No one can really say, but here is the common wisdom: College GPA and college recommendations matter most.

Your college GPA should be as high as you can get it. Equally important is the rigor of your course selection. "

It can be difficult to recognize course rigor between different subjects (eg. your Lit vs. Math), however, it should be relativey easy for colleges to determine the level of difficulty between math courses.
