The bar graph above shows the number of students who were
absent from Jackson High School each day last week. Of those
students, 8 were absent exactly 2days each,1 was absent 3 days, and
no students were absent more than 3days. If 5 percent of the students in the school were absent at least 1day last week, how many students are
enrolled in Jackson High School?
Answer is1800. Can someone explain me why the answer is 1800?</p>
<p>There are 25+20+10+15+20 = 90 total absences throughout the week.</p>
<p>Now we need to find how many unique students were absent at least one day. 8 students were absent for exactly two days, so we can subtract 8 to account for unique students. 1 student was absent for three days, so we can subtract 1*2 to account for this. So 90-8-2 = 80 students were absent at least one day last week.</p>
<p>This accounts for 5% of the school’s population, so there are 1600 students.</p>
