please help me...

Hi I'm a junior at a highschool in NJ. I'm taking AP English/U.S. history. I've mostly been on honor role, have a 4.1 GPA on a 4.6 scale, I'm 7 out of 356, do colorguard and lots of community service. I've also published and won awards for poetry and stories. I am taking the SAT in june but got a 1750 on the PSAT and have a rigorous course load for next year. What I'd like to know is there a good chance I could be accepted into TCNJ? It's my dream school whre I'd like to major in Psychology but I'm worried. Is there anything I should be doing to help my chances? Any feed back would be great thank you.

Oh and if I do have a chance is it worth it to do Early Admissions? I heard you have more of a chance for scholarships that way...

Your class rank is excellent, and your ec's look good. The weak spot is your current PSAT score, which puts you near the bottom quartile of matriculated students. Prepping for the SAT should be able to help - definitely do the June administration. If you break 1900, I think you're ok. If you don't, take the next one - with a bit of work over the summer you should be able to do so in the fall.

Other advice - take your essays seriously, and start on them 2-4 before you plan on submitting your application. If scholarships are more plentiful for those who apply early, certainly go for it - you don't near to impress them with your senior grades because your grades are already fabulous.

For recommendations - do your hs resume of activities over the summer. When you as your teachers for rec's EARLY next fall, give them a copy of the resume - it will help them write a better rec.

I'd say the best thing to do is not stress out before you get your SAT results back. Save your energy for when you have the results; that way you can use your energy constructively - either to study for the next round, or to keep working with academics if you do well on your SATs.
