If you did an EC for one year, like your wallstreet an math clubs, don’t put that on your app.

…look at all the Ivy League schools,

your app looks pretty strong

you’re in.

not really. you’re never in til you get accepted. i know people with stronger application who got rejected

does everyone else agree with this? i dont.

I dunno, to me it seems like thing like that and the stupid superficial awards some schools give out, are just to pad your resume. I’d like to think that adcoms can see that and would frown upon it. Once again, I can’t say for sure, but to me, being in fourteen different clubs for one year each doesn’t really demonstrate anything other than that you’re just trying to add things to your resume.

I left out a lot of little random things because I didn’t feel like they demonstrated commitment and passion, and I got in. I focused on the things that were important to me and were good experiences, and it was good enough for the Adcom. Of course I’m sure there are people that have listed every little award down to “hall monitor of the year, 9th grade” and still gotten in, but to me, thing like that are just kind of stupid.

Ya if you just put stuff down that you did for only one year it looks like you have no focus, and you just join stuff and do not give it your all.

i think long 1-year ECs only look bad if you did them in 11th/12th grade.
