Please Help Me!!!

i am a senior and i have no idea where i can get in with my stats. here they are:

-about 1320 on the sat (2010 on new one)
-captain of varsity sport for couple years
-involved in 2 varsity sports all 4 years
-200 miscellaneous volunteer hours
-top 20% at competitive private school
-founder and president of minority awareness club (though i am upper-middle class, non-URM)
-latin club
-several athletic meets with OK placement

i am looking at wake forest, cornell, tufts, BC, emory, amherst, nyu, BU, and UTaustin

i think you have a decent shot...do you have legacy at any of the schools?

yea...i have legacy at cornell

will that ensure i get in?

are you out of your mind? Legacy doesn't ensure a thing anymore--welcome to 21st century admissions.:) It will boost your chances if you apply ED though, and be more of a tie breaker if you apply RD.

You have a fair chance with your stats (that's not bad, you are either in the running, or out of it--or overqualified; it's hard to more specific than that, as admissions are somewhat of a crapshoot.)

I am sorry to ask you guys, but what is legacy?

Legacy is when your parent or grandparent etc. went to the school. Kind of like how one who has accomplished much in life "leaves a legacy."

In terms of colleges, it means that they go easier in admissions on kids who are the children and/or grand children of alumni.

bump bump....
