please help - Meeting with Financial Aid Rep in person?

I've recently been admitted into Emory, yet our family has been sending appeal forms due to unusual financial circumstances last year. We have already submitted everything via email and fax and have even established communication through phone. Is it advisable to also meet with the financial aid representative in person to show more demonstrated interest in hopes of earning a better package? And if so, is it necessary for the student to come along too? (I have already visited the campus) It's not like I have any student input for the financial aid discussion.

Emory's a 12 hour drive and in order to drive there, before May 1, I will have to miss Science Olympiad State competition that could help get me off the waitlist at other schools. I personally don't want to have to drive 24 hours in a car for something I feel has no value if all is said and done already (we haven't received final aid offer yet though), yet my dad is convinced otherwise.

What are your takes? Please help - time is SUCH a pressing issue, my my.

It’s about money at this point - not demonstrated interest. Just make sure they have all the documentation they need. You do not need to show up in person.

Agree w/dm, no need to visit.

Another voice of agreement. Showing up in person will not make a difference.

I was recently at my daughter’s accepted school and spoke to a financial aid officer about reviewing the award and she said to appeal in letter. I would gamble that all the school would say the same.
