Please help mom help son with AP class questions that I dont understand!

Good news! He’s taking Spanish 3! And he/I owe it all to YOU! All of you!!
Thank you very much!

His 2013-14 Jr. schedule: (7 classes)
AP Calc BC
AP USH
Spanish 3 (Yay!)
AVID (zero period)
LA
Theatre (VA requirement)
Varsity Water Polo/Swim Teams

It will still be hard with 6:30am classes & Polo till 6:30pm (&5:00am swim practice in the spring). But we lightened up the load alittle by taking Regular LA instead of AP (his school doesn’t offer a middle choice like Honors). So sleep will be hard to come by but the classes are definately doable! If we have to we’ll get a Spanish tutor for 2nd semester.

With my other son, the Senior. He knows from friends that APBio is ALOT of homework & with 4 APs next year he said he couldnt handle it. He thought it would look good for a Business Major to be thinking about the environment. Also, if he has to take Bio in college then he’ll do what he has to do.

His Sr. schedule is: (7 classes)
AP Calc BC
AP Stats (5yrs of Math)
AP ES
AP Gov/Econ
AVID (zero period)
LA
Varsity Basketball Team

Today is the last day of school, so NO changes to schedules after today. No more stress & worrying LOL.

Thank you ALL again so much for all your help and advice. I truly could not have done this without out you!

I know that this board is mostly for students/parents of the “tippity top” colleges, but I REALLY APPREICIATE YOU helping me with my AWESOME boys.

I can’t post to ever give somebody any advice but I’ll still be lurking and enjoy reading all of yours. I’ll probably be back again when he has to write his personal statement! LOL

Take care and God Bless!
K

Remember, the student interested in engineering should take some type of physics in high school (perhaps senior year, if not already taken), in order to prepare for physics in college.

Yes absolutely, he’ll be taking AP Physics C his senior year. His school only offers it every other year so this year it wasn’t available.
Thanks again!

It is strange that they would offer physics C once every two years. Due to the calculus prerequisite, that means that some students have no opportunity to take it if they happen to come through the school the “wrong” year without being 2+ years advanced in math.

I know, a lot of the AP classes are like that. It’s because we don’t have enough students that take AP to fill the classes. The school is in a low to middle class area. Although we are caucasian the school is 60% hispanic, 30% white & 10% everything else. Not all but most kids are like mine, first in the family to go to college.

We’re just thankful we have some available, even if every other year.
