hi everyone..
i applied to pennstate about late december..
i posted before about switching my preferred campuses with UP as my first
and MckeeSport as my second...

now they are reviewing my application.
i sent my SAT scores from collegeboard.

stats for my december SAT score-
verbal- 690
math-640
writing 670

however i recently found out that when my counselor sent my transcript
she only sent my NOVEMBER score..which is about 120 points lower than
my DECEMBER score..she says it does not matter because i have already
sent my official scores from collegeboard but im afraid that with the
great volume of applications they receive, maybe they'll just check what's
on my counselors paper...does anyone know for sure?

please help...PSU is my first choice..thanks guys

I'm pretty sure that PSU doesn't accept SAT's from your counseler, that they need to be sent through college board. Probably for the reason that you just described. I'd call the admissions office just to be safe, but I don't think that you have anything to be worried about.

thanks for the reply.
ive called but they only have an answering machine claiming that all admissions officers are busy with the application checking.

PSU and every other university/college only looks at the official SAT/ACT transcript and your highest scores. They will not even look at the scores on your transcript from your school.

This is why every college counselor will reinforce the importance of sending the official scores. I really don't even know why they indicate scores on the high school transcript. You are fine.

thanks for the reply
...im sure this is asked a lot but generally how long do you guys think
it will take for them to make a decision for me? (i applied about december 20th) am i correct that the decision are made in batches?
er..i cant take this anticipation

They do make the decisions in batches. My son applied in September and heard mid October. He applied that early because he had another scholar/athlete app. due at the time and why not get the other in.

The earlier one applies the better chances. They go by grades and SAT/ACT solely. Look at counselor's rec. too. Want nothing more - too many apps. Your scores are good. Don't know your GPA. Be patient - I hate this too for my son. He has applied ED II to another college - would love for him to get in and give the spot at PSU to another student. You will probably hear within 2 weeks to a month.

I was always under the impression that PSU checks the most recent SAT scores, not the highest from each category or the highest in general. And colleges do not accept SAT scores from the school, only from the College Board.

Yes, they only look at the official report - every college/university looks at the highest scores and discounts the others. Some colleges will split scores - highest math/highest verbal for each time taken. Most schools do this. The ACT is one sitting only - don't separate scores.

The letter we received before Christmas said that they would be back to answering the phones as of today - if you haven't gotten your security level up yet on your SAT scores from thesde posts - you can try calling again son. Good luck! GGT

Cagb1016 is Correct, when I went to a visit/tour thing they said they take the highest combined from a Single Setting. Luckily for me it was only 10 points lower then if they would have split the scores.
