post#34 is spot on. The “pending decison” usually means they aren’t sure if its an admit or defer decision. Tulane is VERY BIG on demonstrated interest. YOur s should emai his adcomm (they are very responsive) or and/or go to the Tulane forum and contact Tulane Jeff (hes an admissions person) to talk up his interest and see what he can do to demonstrate stronger interest that will tip his application. Have you visited? Gone to local presentations? contacted his adcomm? IF an application is on the fence , showing strong interest (not, I repeat NOT complaining or nagging about the response time) could make the difference. Good luck

Visited NOLA, attended school presentation and local “reception”, met and introduced himself to the local ADCOM rep and wrote a thank you for all of the above. He said to me this morning (in all his 17 year old wisdom) “Mom, don’t worry about it I have a good feeling, I think I’ll get in. I was meant to go there and I will.”

I love his optimism! Sending good vibes your way that he gets a positive response!

Also sending good vibes. If your son is too shy to pick up the phone he could simply send an e-mail to his admissions rep and ask if there is anything else he could contribute/send that would support his desire to attend Tulane. The answer is probably “no”, but it reinforces his ED, “this is my first choice” application.

Well, your thread prompted me to call because it shows ds is still missing test scores. It’s taking CB a long time! Anyway, I just wanted to make sure his “priority app” – submitted a week before the deadline – wouldn’t be discounted because of the late scores.

Warning: I intended to be totally anonymous even though this isn’t ds’s 1st or even 5th choice. They can see your phone number, and she mentioned our hometown. Eeek! I wasn’t quick enough on my feet to get out of it when she asked my son’s name. Argh. But she was able to actually look at his file and see it was all there except for that. My advice is continue to resist your urge to call!!! Lesson learned.

fyi regarding missing test scores: DS’s test scores weren’t showing up despite having been sent a month before. After a little investigating with ACT, come to find out that Tulane lost the entire batch of June act scores sent to them. I think they started to get lots of phone calls which tipped them off, but I wouldn’t wait too long - check back in a week or so.

“maybe we’re splitting hairs here but would switching his app from SCEA to regular EA draw attention to the fact that he is considering other schools and thus work against him?”
I think it would send a very negative message.

It sounds like your son knows what he wants to do (and I think his response shows a lot of maturity). I’d follow his lead and just wait and see - good luck!

CB shows the reguest is still pending, so I know they haven’t gotten them. I just became concerned that as the days passed it would be held against him.

Good luck! I hope it all works out.

3bysmom - I bet the folks on here would love to hear your update!

^^^ Which, according to her post in the TU forum, is great news!!!

Yay!!!
