I want to study in business major and i am a international student..
Please give me some advice for applying for a good business colleges.
Which universities have good undergraduate business programs? and which one is easiest for international student, like me , to get into???

The most well-regarded undergraduate business schools seem to be Wharton and Ross but those are extremely hard to get into.
I personally like Babson (they make you create and run your own business during your first year). I don't know how hard it is for internationals to get into, but DOLO2 is an international student who will be attending Babson next year. She has a 3.0 GPA and a 1190 SAT (out of 1600).
Northeastern has good co-op programs if you are interested in practical work experience rather than purely academic business programs.

Finding a good business program mainly depends on your finances... if you can afford $40K+ a year, there are many good programs to chose from. If you cannot afford at least $30K, you will have a tough time.

b@r!um. I’m not a female :D but I agree with everything else ;)

aquarius127. If you are interested in Babson you can PM me or ask questions here.

There are many great business schools; I think answers to your question will be more productive if you tell us about your preferences (like location and size) and stats (GPA, SAT/ACT, extracurricular and etc.)

Let's get this straight. Do you want to specifically attend a university with an actual business program, or do you want to eventually create or work at a successful business/firm?

I'm sorry DOLO2. I really thought about your gender for a while and then decided that 'dolo' sounds more like a nick that a female would pick =)

As a general rule, most of the schools with strong business programs have strong programs in many other fields as well, and therefore are quite competitive to get into. For example, MIT has a very strong business program, but it also has a 4% admit rate for international applicants.

Very strong and easy to get into is something of a contradiction in terms.

To Big Brother 1984: Yes, I want to specifically attend a university with an actual undergraduate business program. Do u know any good ones?

To DOLO2: u are an international student? where are u from?? sorry, i am going to be a junior by this Sept. so i haven't taken any SAT, and don't know my GPA for sure. so, sorry~~ Size and location don't matter to me, as long as the college is above average level and rank in top 50 in U.S.
I am now just searching for colleges that good undergraduate business programs. just collecting some advice and opinion.... i will post my detail about SAT, my grade, and extracurricular when they are finalized..

To b@r!um: Do u know more colleges? Finance issues isn't a problem to me.. as long as i can enroll in it later..

DOLO2: can u tell me more about Babson, like its rank, size, location, campus life, international student percent and its undergraduate business, I appreciate it.
Can u guys recommend me more good colleges??? so i can create a list and do some more research on them

oh, by the way, which SAT II should i take if i want to major in business

^Math IIC

10 char.

aquarius127.
Yes I’m international student from Georgia (Eastern Europe). And actually it was one of my hooks, since most of the Americans can’t show my country on the map :) If your country is not represented at the University it is a serious hook (your chances are higher).

Babson is a small College (Total undergrads: 1,776; 450 students-class of 2011). It is located in Wellesley little town near Boston (10-14 miles, depends on what root you take). Babson is a business school, so if you are not sure that you want to study business, don’t consider this school. Babson's undergrads get business degrees, but half of the curriculum is devoted to liberal arts in order to provide better rounded education.

For example my first semester courses are:

1 Financial accounting, 2 FME (school gives you up to 3000k group of students should create, run and then liquidate a business.) 3 Calculus and discrete Math, 4 Rhetoric, 5History and Society, 6Computer workshop and first year seminar (helps students to integrate into Babson community)

Ranking:
School is ranked 23rd in US news best undergraduate business schools, I hope they will hit top20 in August ;)

Babson is ranked #1 in Entrepreneurship (worldwide) by Businessweek, Financial Times, US news and etc.

It is ranked 33rd in businessweek best undergraduate b-school ranking. (This ranking is mainly based on student surveys and I think that is the reason why Babson is ranked 33rd, I will talk about it later.)

International students:

International students are 20% of whole student body;

Recruiting opportunities.

Recruiting opportunities are really amazing, and since there are so many international students they help them to find jobs after graduation. 97% of Babson graduates are hired within three months of graduation. 97% includes international students too.

look at undergraduate recruiting statistics:

number of students (class of 2010)- 443 (!!!)
number of recruiting Opportunities- 897 (!!!)
number of companies 537

Twice as many opportunities as the student body!
For its size Babson has really AMAZING number of companies requiting on campus.

Curriculum:

I love Babsons innovative curriculum with FME, IME, IME2, IME3 in it. Plus their special programs like:

Bloomberg University Certification Program
Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE)
Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork
Babson College Fund (BCF)
Accelerated Curriculum for Entrepreneurship (ACE)

You should look at each one closely on Babson’s site babson.edu

Faculty:

Babson has a great faculty. maybe top 10 in the country (business field of course). Just look at their profiles. Also they have top 15 highest paying faculty in the US. If you like rankings businessweek ranked Babsons faculty on 6th place while financial times on 2nd.

Workload.

Babson has one of the most challenging workload in the country, students often complain about workload and lack of social life. Social life is NOT ideal at Babson. But my friends who study there say that while campus sometimes lacks its spirit, Boston is nearby!

Finally, Babson is not for everyone. School is know for its entrepreneurship program, but other fields like Finance, Management, Marketing and international business are also great. If you are ready for a heavy workload than go for it, but if you look for party/ great social life school than Babson is not for you.

It is easier for internationals to get accepted.

Hope it helped. Good luck
