Need Help Deciding - Undergrad Business Schools

Hello CC, I am debating between attending Boston University, Syracuse University, and Babson College. The schools cost roughly the same amount for me, with BU being around ~2k cheaper than the rest, so price is not that significant. I'm looking for a larger school (Yes, Babson is extremely small), one with a great reputation for Accounting AND Finance. I am interested in a campus feel, so I'm not sure how much of a campus BU has since I have not yet had the chance to visit. Would like a decent Asian (Chinese) population within the school. Anyone have any suggestions why I should choose one over the other, or how they view BU, Syr, or Babson for undergrad business? Thank YOU!

Btw, I am leaning towards attending BU, since it seems to have everything I want except a closed campus. Syracuse has the closed campus, but it does not have the offerings of a college town. Babson is an extremely small business school (2k students) in Boston, though I am probably looking for a larger student population. Please let me know what you think; I will definitely visit during break and I just want some current suggestions. The real debate is between BU and Syracuse for Accounting and Finance major.

bump. 10 char

i know nothing about babson
i dont think syracuse as many asians
BU is IN boston so it really doesnt feel like a campus

babson may only have 2,000 students but it has everything else you’re looking for-- i wouldnt scratch it off just yet.

it has a beautiful campus, and and extremely large international student population (of which, china is the largest country represented and asia being the largest demographic area). most people think entrepreneurship is all babson is known for, but actually most of the firms that recruit at babson are in accounting and finance (PWC, Hanover, JPMorgan Chase are probably the most popular)

i suggest making a trip over and visiting all 3 schools. it would really help your decision!!

good luck :)

Hmm, thanks ishamig. Are you a student at Babson? It seems that most of the internationals at Babson are from China & India, is this true?

Bump, anyone else have any comments?

I think you should consider what you want to do with your degree after school. Babson would open the most doors if you wanted to stop at a BA or go directly to grad school. If your not sure what you want after school then perhaps a larger school would be better.

Hmm, I’m thinking of obtaining licensing as a CPA and eventually obtain an MBA. I’m sure all of the schools offer comparable academic programs, so its more so the alumni connections, campus/social life, and student types that are most important to me. BU seems like the best choice for me, as it offers much from being in a college town/financial center.

I am! The international students are pretty equally divided, but I’d say Asia / South Asia (includes India) comes first, and Mexico / South America comes second. If being in a large school is a big priority then BU may be better for you, but I’ve never felt as though Babson is too small.

You should also consider the advantages and opportunities you get from a smaller school… (better connections with teachers / alumni, small classes, better dorms, better food, campus feel, tight-knit student body, ability to make a difference, personal attention from the career center, fewer graduates competing with you for a job, and the list goes on…)
