Her 9-11 transcript was already sent (even though I think it wasn’t requested per se). So yes, the high school sent her Q1 grade report along as well.
Our schools interim grades do t show up on the transcript. Only final Semester 1 and 2 show up. The interim grade is a report only. The final semester grades will be available first week of February.
But what did she do as far as self report? How did she self report the mid semester grades? Because it says has to be final and reflected on transcript. Thanks
Well, I guess if it says it has to be reflected on her transcript, she did it incorrectly. She assumed that since the high school was sending the quarter report, she would just enter that.
So for the senior year only, she entered q1 grades, with subsequent quarters listed as in progress.
I wish I could be more precise, but that’s how she’s relaying her process to me.
Thanks I appreciate it. Was there any issue with final semester 1 grades not matching reported interim grades (Q1). I believe they ask for final transcript after admission. So what happens if the final semester 1 grades in transcript are different that the reports mis semesters grades?
She’s applying now. But she’s only entered quarter grades, not final semester grades.
That’s what I want him to do as well. But what if the Quarter grades dont match with the final transcript? Did she get a Q1 report from her school or did she have to ask for it specifically? So for Grade 12 semester 1 she entered the mid semester (Q1) grades on our case issued NOV 4th and for second semester she put IP? I really appreciate all your help as I try to figure this out. How did you find out that’s what you’re supposed to do?
Yes, they get a quarterly grade report. The high school sends those Q1 reports to all schools that student has already requested transcripts for. So the quarterly grade won’t be reported on the final year end transcript, but there is official school documentation nonetheless.
I don’t think she had any firm understanding that this was exactly what she was supposed to do. But, she highly recommends finding videos on Youtube from McGill admissions. They walk through the process. They’re very long, but she skipped to portions she needed, and somehow that got her to some sort of entry that she felt comfortable with.
Ok Thanks. Are you guys in MA also? I will look for the videos. So it was her understanding after the videos that it would suffice to report the interim grades so far for semester 1 Grades?
This would be the most relevant video:

Thanks Tom. I did watch this yesterday but still does not specify about self reporting of current Grade 12 grades. If we should wait until end of semester 1 to get final grades which would be first week of February, or if we should report current mid semester ( interim) grades for grade12 which we could do now to get the process rolling. Seems like an easy enough question but no answers
You are overthinking this…and I assume you are the same mom who posted on all three McGill parent Facebook groups. Self report the first quarter grades. For most kids from the US, they will ask for first semester grades; submit those when available. McGill admissions is smart enough to know there may be some variation. They will ask for a final transcript as well. Again, they just want to make sure the A’s didn’t turn into C’s and D’s. The Canadian university application process is significantly easier than the US process - it is literally about the grades and scores (if submitted). My youngest was right at the minima for grades (well above for ACT) - it was a nail biter. It’s part of the process.
Thank you. Yes we will submit the interim ( mid semester) grades for now and wait to be asked/ if asked to submit mid term ( final semester 1) grades. I spoke to them to clarify and was told it’s not possible to submit final semester 1 grades later on after submitting mid semester grades unless you have been prompted to do so by McGill.
We’ll be applying next year - can someone confirm whether McGill during this current cycle is asking for 9th grades at all?
Yes, McGill wants final results from grades 9 through 11, and first term results for grade 12.
Thanks so much!
If anyone can help with this comment on McGill site - " * You must enter at least five 11th grade courses with final grades.
Does this mean you should choose only the top 5 courses? So my kid has Jazz Band, History, English, Geometry, Biology, and Latin. I assume they would want the core 4 subject classes, but if he gets 100s in Jazz Band, should we not include Latin grades or should we include Latin grade which would then bring average down a bit but still above last year’s cutoff? Thanks!!
And finally so they really don’t give any extra boost for AP course over regular course?
Thanks so much!!
I think you have to enter ALL 11th grade courses – but that if you have fewer than 5 you aren’t eligible.
Earlier on their page they say you have to enter all courses, including repeated and failed courses.
