<p>I can’t give a fancy explanation, but I suggest reading them outloud. When I read them outloud, they just sounded wrong at those parts. </p>

<p>I think that maybe “that” should be “those” because the word “issues” is plural. Since it is plural, those has to be used to match it.</p>

<p>“That” should be “those”. Remove the prepositional phrases and adjectives, and it makes more sense:</p>

<p>“Few issues are as likely to provoke interest as THOSE involving possible danger.”</p>

<p>“As” should be “when”. This one is kind of tricky, and I don’t like the phrasing of “from that which results”, but “as” is certainly incorrect. Again, remove unnecessary clauses and it makes sense:</p>

<p>“The exchange…promotes learning far different from that which results WHEN the student listens…”</p>
