please help!

Hi! I wasn't really sure where to put this thread but I was hoping some of you may have some advice. My brother is a freshman at Syracuse and is getting all of his final grades this week. He received an F in one of his classes and it is most definitely a mistake! There were many quizzes in this class and he received A's and B's on most all of them. He got an A on his midterm. The only problem may be his final paper, which he handed directly to the professor. He did not get his grade back for the paper so it is possible that the professor may have misplaced it? He emailed the professor and has not received a response :(
What should we do? Even with a zero on the final paper it is not possible that he deserves an F.
Thanks in advance for the responses!

Emailing his prof was the right thing to do. Good luck to him!

Thank you! This professor is not so easy-going so we’re a little worried.

The best way is still to contact the professor to find out what’s wrong. This ain’t a serious problem; the grading system probably messed things up, so better get the professor to sort things up.

If he emailed it to his professor, then he should have it in his sent box. He should also have a copy of his paper on his computer. I would not open the paper to save it again, just in case if he needs to prove to his professor that the paper was finished before the deadline.

If it’s as you have stated then it could be easily fixed. This is a school break, the professor may not be reading his emails.

^^ It sounds like unfortunately he didn’t email the paper originally, but handed it to the prof. A reminder to students that there’s a good reason always to transmit electronically.

OP, I agree with oldfort, the professor may very well be taking a break and not reading email, so your brother shouldn’t pester him with follow-ups this week. He can feel free to send another email early next week, if there’s no reply by then.

It sounds like there was not an option to hand it in electronically. Hopefully he just hasn’t seen his email and it will all be sorted out. Thank you for all of the help!
