Hi!

I am currently in Canada and want to apply to US universities. I would greatly appreciate any suggestion about which ones to apply to given the following:

SAT: 1540
SAT II: Bio&math2 - 790
Academic average: 96%
AP: calculus BC-5(AB subscore 5); Biology-4; Com sci-4; Economics(Micro and macro)-5; Psychology-5
Extra-curricular: president of STEM club, cancer research club, and peer tutoring program; exec on environmental club and HOSA

College budget? Specific geographic locations? Intended major? School size preference? Private or Public?

Your academics looks good. You have to keep in mind that you will pay full tuition in any school that you apply for, so you can chose private and public universities. There is one option you might consider.

  1. If you have a school of choice that you are certain, apply for early decision. You can only apply for one and if selected, you do not have to worry for the main admissions process.

Thank you for your reply, I am willing to pay full tuition for college, looking for private schools along the east and west coast, and biology as major.

What do you plan to do with your Biology major?

Be aware that getting a university degree in the US does NOT allow you to stay in the US after graduation, and will make it significantly more difficult for you to find a job in Canada. There are some VERY good biology programs in Canada, and they would be about US$200,000 less expensive (C$250,000).

Also the top Canadian universities have exchange programs with very good universities in the US.
